has anyone successfully set up their homeline on the HG659? The modem slingshot provide is pretty poor compared to Vodafone's one. I've got the internet going. i have the SIP password and followed this link to the best of my ability: https://help.slingshot.co.nz/Ultra-Fast-Broadband/68286790/Ultra-Fast-Fibre-SIP-settings-for-home-phone.htm But still no success.Screenshots attached:

fibre upgrade drama
Here's my experience of upgrading to fibre broadband with Slingshot, and some advice on making it a better process. I signed up with Slingshot fibre in May, switching from Spark VDSL. Due to living in a rental it took some time to get landlord consent and confirm dates with Chorus.Chorus gave a date for install and this was done couple of days ago (mid July)I then wonder who takes care of switching my service from Spark to Slingshot. No doubt everyone reading this has realised already what the answer is. But read on.I call Slingshot and ask if they take care of the switch from Spark. They tell me to call Spark.I call Spark and ask if they have heard from Slingshot to switch service as I'm now on fibre with Slingshot. They say that Slingshot is responsible and Spark have not had any communication about switching service.Back to Slingshot. They can't terminate my service with Spark, I have to tell Spark this. So, Slingshot are washing their hands now.Back to Spark to cancel service. After some discussion I discover that if I was switching DSL-DSL the providers would hand the customers over. If I was switching fibre-fibre they would take care of the switch between them. But there is no process between carriers apparently to switch customer when the service is being changed from DSL to fibre. I don't cancel yet, I want another word with Slingshot first.Call Slingshot back to say I'm not going to accept getting two bills for internet connections for the same month. It doesn't work this way for electric or gas switching, or if it was the same type of broadband technology. I threaten to cancel the service, which I haven't yet used. Unsurprisingly I hear that cancelling service on day one would incur a cancellation charge. I start looking at the TUANZ site for dispute resolution in the background. Reluctantly Slingshot offer to waive the first months charge. At last we're getting somewhere.I can now call Spark back to cancel DSL. Bear in mind that at no point in the application, installation or switching process was there ever any communication from Slingshot about cancelling service with my existing DSL provider. Please also consider that this process is set by the carriers and imposed on the customer - the purpose of customer service ought to be optimise, guide and assist the process. The upshot of this is that upgrading broadband from DSL to fibre is treated by the carriers as if the two services were as different as water and gas. They haven't figured out a process for coordinating a customer switch when the service is being upgraded. Is this really the case that fibre customers are being stranded with a cancellation fee from their DSL provider because there is no switching process between the carriers when service is upgraded? Here's the lesson: Don't switch provider AND upgrade service at the same time.1. Switch service to your new provider keeping DSL. Inform the new provider you intend to upgrade to fibre after the switch.2. Make sure you aren't locked into a DSL 2 year contract with termination fees (unlikely I hope)3. Make sure the new provider will take care of cancelling and switching the old DSL service.4. After the switch is completed, call your new provider back and start the process for a fibre upgrade.5. Again, double check that there are no DSL termination fees etc. TL/DR: only upgrade to fibre broadband with your existing DSL provider, otherwise you'll be getting two broadband bills.I would be happy to hear from Slingshot on whether my experience is typical, and what advice they can provide to new customers to avoid this drama. As mentioned, I didn't get any info about cancelling service.

upgrading modem
I'm using fibre and intend upgrading my slingshot provided Netcomm NF4V to the Netcom NF17ACV. If I copy the settings backup folder from the NF4V onto the new NF17ACV will I be good to go? ... Or will i have to spend hours talking to Slingshot.

Cheapish ISP WiFi Router Replacement 5Ghz ($200)
Hey folks,I live in a city apartment with Slingshot fibre internet but the 2.4Ghz WiFi interference leaves me with bad DSL speeds.I have read a bunch of threads and reviews and I'm very tempted to buy the Netcomm NF8AC.Our ONT is installed in a highly visible place and I need to make it all look as pretty as possible. I would like an economical single box with 5Ghz and an internal antenna. The options are: - Netcomm NF8AC (Latest Firmware is May 2017) - $200 - Netcomm NF17ACV (latest Firmware is June 2017) - $260I have no requirement for VOIP - is that the only real difference between these guys? I also bookmarked other devices, but I would really like to have a sleek form factor, so external antennas are a showstopper (and the Fritz is too expensive). I've read about a periodic DNS issue on the NF8AC, but it's very periodic, it will be fixed at some point, and I don't mind rebooting my router occasionally. The WiFi strength is a bit average due to the internal antennas, but I'm in a one bedroom apartment, I can't imagine WiFi strength being an issue. Is there any other reason not to buy the NF8AC? Its seems like it will do everything I want to me.

Slingshot | NF4V
I've been experiencing repeated and intermittent dropouts on my home fibre link with Slingshot for a few months now. I'm 100% sure the issue is in the house. I've had a cableGuy come along and check his wiring work - he's happy with that. Sshot have already sent me a new router; another to arrive next week to swap out. I asked if I can upgrade the firmware on that router but they say their settings will be lost - fair enough.Looking on PBTech I can see that my NF4V is branded for ADSL+VDSL. The next models up are for ADSL+VDSL+Fibre. I'm wondering if I upgraded to the next model [NB16WV], labelled for fibre, if this would be of any advantage at all?Is anyone able to comment on this please as I'm also curious why Sshot offer ADSL+VDSL to customers with Fibre connections.Thankyou.

Any CHCH users?
Looking for any kind slingshot users in CHCH to do some trace routes. The IPs are servers in CHCH, AKL and Sydney. I'm thinking on moving back to slingshot now that they offer 1000/500 fiber to my location but I need to know if there isn't any weird routing issues. The IPs from AKL/SYD are providers that games I play are hosted on. Right now with bigpipe I get 66ms to vocus in AKL because it routes to sydney and then back to akl which is annoying. CHCH:219.88.205.17 - Spark203.184.7.68 - CallplusAKL:103.231.90.194 - Vocus180.149.231.251 - FeenixSydney:139.99.144.3 - OVH43.245.162.75 - Intergrid Thanks in advanced

New fibre connection
Hi, everyone bit of a stupid question here, just had fibre fitted after a year long wait. So the question is; what are the two boxes?is the one on the wall (the optical termination) the modem and the box supplied the Router only?or the supplied box is the router/modem. Have asked Slingshot and they give vague answer that does not answer the question and to confuse the issue some sites I've been on say its a router only and others say Modem/router.Need this resolving as looking to replace the box supplied with my own as I would like dual band.thank you in advance for everyones help

Sudden massive increase in SPAM on Slingshot mail
Just in the last week or two we've experienced a massive surge of SPAM (lurid, adult-style) on our home email provided by Slingshot. Anyone know of a server that's been hacked recently or if Slingshot themselves have been compromised? If our kids saw some of this stuff, they'd not be kids for long!

Slingshot Fibre + Merlin Firmware = No Connection
Hey there :) First time poster - please bare with me.I've just received a new modem which came with Merlin firmware pre-installed (https://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/). Slingshot is our internet provider, on Fibre 100/20.Here's the issue: I just can't get the modem to connect to the internet. On the phone with Slingshot they said that they can't see any connection requests coming through, so my settings are definitely wrong somewhere. I have confirm that my PPP user and pass are correct (they work on the Netcom router supplied by Slingshot). If you have Merlin firmware and connect with Slingshot, would you be willing to share your settings with me? I'd be super grateful for that, or any general help! Thanks heaps for your time.

Slow international speeds on Fibre.
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/6838689655Based 15mins north of Whangarei and Fibre has only been turned on in the town since September. So I have moved to my parents place temporarily and decided to get her internet changed over to fibre as she only had 12mbt VDSL that really maxed out at 2mbt most of the time. Fibre got changed over last week all good and speed tests nationally max out at over 100mbt down and 20mbt up as per the plan I put her on but the max she can get to Australia is 10mbt down and .5mbt up, and to America 5mbt - 10mbt down .5mbt - 10mbt down. Can not even watch netflix without it maxing out the connection and no one else able to use the net. TBH I will rather pay out her contract and move to a decent ISP if there is no fix on its way or any acknowledgment of a problem. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/6838689655 http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/6838720389 http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/6838729801 These tests were done at 7:44am.

Question about International Speeds to Twitch/Aus
I'm trying to stream to Twitch Aus (Sydney) server and am consistently getting atrociously low bitrates. Doing a local (NZ) speedtest.net I get 100/20 - no problem. Doing a speed test to a Sydney server I get something like 40/1.2 during evening times. Is there usually such a significant difference international traffic vs local? Alternatively - what sort of settings are people using to stream to twitch sydney server?

Extremely inconsistent speeds over wifi, sometimes no internet
I've been experiencing many issues. I am currently using the Chorus ONT along with the Netgear Nighthawk D7000. Sometimes the internet is absolutely fine, at other times it will literally cut out and I will have no access. I would be extremely grateful for any help, as it's extremely frustrating when I'm gaming or just generally browsing. I will most likely be getting hardwired ethernet for my PC soon, but even so my other devices will be on the wireless network, and I don't really think it's acceptable to be paying for the most expensive package possible and deal with internet that cuts out.

Slingshot drops gig prices to $99
Looks like Slingshot has sharpened their prices and the gig is now down to $99 per month (compared to $85 for 100Mbps).

Slingshot tells me homeline will only work with routers they supply
I had fibre connected to my house today. Slingshot is my ISP and I have a homeline with them too. I have been using a Fritz 7490 and from the research I had done I thought I could get to work over fibre to Slingshot. Specifically I had read this thread:https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=81&topicid=21388I got the internet connection to work, though that post hadn't indicated to me to select a VID of 10.However I couldn't get the phone to work and SIP registration never succeeded. Then I found this thread:https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=81&topicid=226275which seemed to indicate that the Fritz configuration I had copied no longer works. It's as if the Slingshot SIP registrar had changed.I phoned Slingshot support and was told that there was no way I would ever get my Fritz to work for a homeline and my only choice was to have them send me one of the routers they supply. From what I have heard they are not the greatest routers, which is why I am trying to use the Fritz.Does anyone know if this is the truth? If I should be able to get my Fritz working what should I be using as the SIP registrar address? Have other things changed from the setup described here:https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=81&topicid=21388Thanks in advance.Dave

Fiber plan with VoIP, best modem/router??
Late last year the man from Chorus came & installed our fiber. It wasn't the smoothest install but we got there in the end. 2 months later we get a phone call from Slingshot saying the need to come round & do some more wiring as our phone was still running on the copper lines. In the mean time I'd ditched the less than desirable "free" modem/rouoter supplied, Netcomm NF4V with an ASUS DSL-AC52U so I could at least stream Netflix in HD. Today we find out we require a VoIP compatible modem/router, I've had to hook the old NF4V back up so the Mrs can use the land line. I phoned Slingshot & asked them if they had any better modems & for $100 they'll sell me a Netcomm NF18ACV. I'm not happy with having to pay for a reasonable modem/router when most of the competition in this day & age can supply a dual band. I've also not seen many good reviews of Netcomm products wifi stability.Do people have any recommendations? Just having a quick look around now & the d-link talkbox2800 is one of the few options out there that don't cost a small fortune. I'd prefer to stay with ASUS but. The other option we have is to swap providers, the guy from Chorus said Spark & Trustpower customers can plug their phones directly into the fiber box. Thanks in advance.

Asus 68u modem and slingshot giga
I have just moved from UFB to the giga plan on Slingshot. The slingshot modem provided seems able to obtain 700+ but I can't get over 200 with my Asus. Can any one tell me what settings I need to change to obtain the same speeds. Want to keep the Asus as great range and works well with number of users.

trying to get past junior call centre staff
I had 3 accounts with Slingshot/Callplus. I continue to use Callplus services at my offices.I had slingshot at home but cancelled that. I had slingshot at my beachouse but cancelled that in September 2016.Slingshot have continued to charge me since September 2016. Unfortunately my wife only just noticed this, this month. I called and whilst the caller acknowledged that the service was not used, will not reimburse me. I tried to speak to someone more senior even suggesting that I move my internet back to slingshot and be credited with this amount but can't really get past the call centre staff.Any suggestions.

Internet usage seems...excessive?
I have a mild concern that our internet usage has goine through the roof lately - almost doubling in download over the last couple of months. For clarity - I haven't checked this in some time, but when I did last check, we were on a copper 10mps connection and now we are on fibre 100/20 This month, we have the following useage stats:Total usage to date: 390.32GBAverage daily usage: 24.39GBPredicted monthly usage: 732GB I have a pre-teen and a teen using a PC each and a mobile each, both play online games (mainly Fortnite) Wife and I stream the odd bit of Netflix or iTunes (not a huge amount) and a bit of facebook etc. Not a lot of IOT devices in the house - a smart telly, smart BD player (plus the usual 4 phones, 4 ipads, 4 computers etc) - no connected fridge, smart home devices or anything like that. Whilst we are on an unlimited plan, I am concerned that the usage seems a little high and that possibly we are being tapped by a neighbour?
