Wasn't even aware my phone was disconnected until I got a visitor saying my phone line is disconnected. This has been happeining way to many times for my liking since I changed my plan from adsl to UFB with slingshot. The disconnections are frequent and I am not even aware of it unless I try and use my phone or someone visits and tells me.I already know its not my phone, its happened way to many times in the past ..... its at their end. What I want to do is ask if I could have at least one socket back to how I had it before I joined UFB with slingshot. Not sure what I am asking for.Anyone able to help me formulate this so I can post it on their fb page. Thanks.Just want one jackpoint that doesn't rely on any modems or hybrid wiring or ontb, so if theres a power cut it wont affect my phone. Just dont know how to formulate that into a request to slingshot or what to ask for. TIANote:- net working so no issues there. All good restarted my modem, phones working now, still want to be able to use the jackpoint without modem.

Price increases on contracted plans?
So much for contracts, slingshot have sent me a message informing me of an increase though the twelve month plan we agreed to was $94 and has not run its course. This increase though small is to cover the copper rental costs the government have allowed Chorus to increase.

Slow Netflix performance on Slingshot ADSL
I've been living in a semi rural area for about 18 months, and while suffering from general slow ADSL speeds, am having issues with Netflix performance since moving to Slingshot in the past couple of months. We were with Vodafone and decided to move after their support service seemed to get worse and the icing on the cake was when they did a remote upgrade of my router and broke it, then denied the upgrade had anything to do with the problem. My general performance is acceptable given that I get download speeds of around 3-4mb/s but sometimes Netflix drops to very low quality, or stops all together. Most of the time when this happens, I'll run a speed test and find that it reports 'normal' results. My question is, does anyone else have similar issues using Netflix over Slingshot ADSL. Also, is there any known reason for this type of issue? The connection details are: ADSL 2+ SNR margin - 118 Attenuation - 445 Downstream rate - 3687 Upstream rate - 984 Location is Razorback Rd, Pokeno/Bombay and I believe we are connected to the Bombay Exchange

So my unsolvable problem with slingshot
Alright. So I have been having trouble with the fiber ONT showing a red light (under optical label), which apparently signals a disconnection. This is completely unpredictable. It happens multiple times a day sometimes, and other times doesnt happen for a few days. The problem is IT HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY, and without warning. My internet just stops working for upto 10mins. So after a bit of back and forth via emails and calls, I was told a few things:What I'm experiencing is not frequent enough to do anything about. The last disconnection detected from chorus' end is 15/12/15, even though I've been having disconnections consistently well past that date. In fact, I sent in an image of the ONT showing a lost connection (Red light on the optical), on a much later date than that. Near the end of the year. After this was investigated further, I got a text a couple of days ago saying, it should all be fine and resolved. - It wasnt, it disconnected once later that afternoon. I was like, OK fine. A one-off, maybe that was the last one. - It wasn't. It died again yesterday night. This afternoon at around 4.30, at which point I called the tech support, only to receive a reply of "there's nothing we can do. Monitor your connection for 24 hours, for us to raise it further, we need more evidence". - I was also told in the phone call that, "frequent disconnections are anything over 15 times per day". Which is absurd. Most of us are only awake for like 14-16 hours a day. So basically if it's not dying every hour that you're awake, there's no fault. Logic! - What's amazing is, right after the call, it died. So i took a picture and a video. Here's a link to just the picture. I've sent off the video to the support team, but for annonymity reasons i won't post here.http://imgur.com/4ieIFHW I will continue marking down times and dates and pictures of the ONT everytime it goes down now, because apparently, I have nothing better to do in my life. This is extremely frustrating, as I really can't figure out how this is OK. If Chorus doesn't "detect" the problem on their end, it's not happening. Great. Nothing could possibly be wrong with their monitoring system at all, no, it knows all, it sees all. This is basically the same email I've sent to the support team, minus some of the contextual story stuff at the top.Anyone else having such an issue? What the hell do I even do about a piece of hardware I didn't buy, was installed by a provider that keeps repeating that "nothing is wrong".

Warning: if you move from SS to new ISP you cannot actually "keep" your email addresses...
... what they actually do is cancel your email addresses with your broadband a/c and reopen them a few days later (leaving a few days when your email bounces as the address doesn't exist). After discovering how much threading-the-needle would be involved in finding a decent router to work with SS Fibre (and the whole no-Gigatown & landline-through-router things), I checked that I could keep my SS email addresses (and the guy responding explicitly described the process as a "transfer"), only to discover that they do it as two completely separate, several-working-days-needed-between, operations. The take-away is that, if you're transitioning away from SS, you're better off transitioning away your email first (also that their customer service sucks).

Setting up Netcomm NF4V
Hi allI am sure many of you guys on Fibre have got this modem (Netcomm NF4V). What I am trying to do: I am trying to set up the modem so that I can use a different router (DLINK DIR269 AC1750) for the wifi and not the Netcomm. Why? The DLINK's wifi is way faster. Since fibre has been connected, the mode has shifted away from my main computer so I cant get on a wired connection. From my understanding, I am supposed to set up the modem in bridge mode so that the WAN connection just passes through. I have tried to do this but I cannot find any decent guides for doing this. But since I am sure there are many of you that have already done this, I was hoping someone can lend me a hand.I have 2 questions:1. Would my phoneline be affected (I currently need to connect this to the Netcomm).2. How can I set up my Netcomm so that it lets the DLINK do all the routing (I would prefer to do this instead of setting it up as an access point. My NAS for backing up things and running Plex would also be connected to the DLINK. Thanks.

ETF fees and extension when moving?
Hi,I am currently with an unlimited VDSL contract with Slingshot, the term of my contract is in a couple of month and I am not really willing to continue with them (as I had some issues recently and they were terrible to fix them).I am moving in a couple of weeks to a new home where only regular ADSL is available (already sad in itself).Slingshot told me that I have the choice of:- pay $199 of termination fees- switch my contract to an ADSL one, meaning making a new contract and extending the term for at least one more year I find it a bit gross, it is their fault, they can't fulfil their part of the contract (provide VDSL to me) and I will be the one who have to pay fees? I this legal?I came from overseas and I am living in NZ only for two years, so I don't really now if it is something normal here, but in my home country this is call "compulsory sale" and is punished by law.Do you have any advise or comment on this? Thank you.

Upgrading to unlimited naked VDSL - is 998 enabled?
Hey guys, I'm upgrading to naked VDSL this week, and I'm wondering if it will be 998 enabled on the unlimited / naked plan? The Slingshot site says that VDSL speeds are "15Mbps to 50Mbp", whereas on 998 I've seen results well over these figures. I'm in Palmerston North if that helps.I was also told that I didn't need to be home on the day of the upgrade, even though the site says a technician needs to install a new splitter and that someone needs to be home etc...should I be concerned?

Unusably slow internet, ignore it and hope it goes away?
Nothing changed on my end.Phone calls to support a waste of time (yes my router is working & no I don't need to take it to a mates house to prove it).Has a nearby cabinet melted?

Wiring maintenance charges - worth it?
Just wondering if this is worth paying every month, because it adds up over time. What exactly is it for, and how likely is it to come in handy? We own our house, which is a new build, so the internal wiring should be pretty solid.

Frequent disconnections all the time
Have been with slingshot for a long while nowWe have vdsl and get around 50 down 10 up so speeds arnt bad We have the slingshot supplied modem which is the vb104w modem router and the Internet just stops working. I goto check the router and the Internet light is flashing on off red. This requires a restart of the modem to get it to start working again. The dsl light stays green so not losing connection there just the Internet light goes redWhat is this problem it is becoming frustrating to say the least to keep dealing with thisAny help will be greatly appreciatedLet me know if you need more information from me

Just had 100/20 Fibre installed - inconsistent speeds (Slingshot)
Had Fibre installed yesterday. The Chorus guys have been great. From the guys that did the wiring from the road, to the technician that spent 4.5 hrs with us yesterday, our experience has been an excellent one. Unfortunately the speed of the UFB is not so amazing. I have my iMac plugged directly into the modem router and that is giving us 98/21 every time I do a speedtest.Via wifi, using the Slingshot-provide Netcomm modem router, I am getting 33/20 on average (sometimes as slow as 20/20, other times as fast as 37/21. So...upload is as fast on wifi and wired connection, but download is abysmally slow for what I expect via wireless on UFB - that's more like VDSL speeds. Don't get me wrong, it's way better than the 8/1 we were getting on ADSL, but it's not good for UFB, in my opinion. Is there something I am missing? A setting i should change? Should i speak to Slingshot to enquire (the issue being that they will state that I am getting the advertised speed on my iMac)?

[HELP] Setting up Huawei H659 (b) for Slingshot UFB 100/20
Hi all, I have an existing Slingshot UFB 100/20 connection setup at home. From my previous address, I have inherited a Vodafone provided Huawei H659(b) modem. I am thinking of using this Huawei H659(b) modem to replace the Slingshot provided TriplePlay 150 router. Could anyone give me some guide or advice on how to go about this? Your input is much appreciated. PS: I'm a newbie in this DIY connectivity world.

TriplePlay 150
Having trouble figuring out what is the maximum 802.11N throughput of the TriplePlay 150 (Slingshots UFB router) I can only get 72Mbps next to the router with my new Intel 7260AC WWAN card (on a brand new machine), I can get plenty more connected to other routers. Can anyone with that router comment on what the connection to their Wifi network is rated at (Using the Windows Network and Sharing Center, and clicking on the Wifi network you're connected to).Documentation is missing for 802.11N throughput on the datasheet. http://www.energyimports.co.nz/_img/TriplePlay150%20spec%20sheet.pdf

Slingshot and the Undead Bill
This afternoon I had a call from Sharon @ ICMS (apparently a debt-collecting agency) about an unpaid bill from Slingshot for $46. Since I haven't used Slingshot for about 20 years, I found this rather odd. I told Sharon this, and she is "looking into it", and will send me chapter and verse.I find myself wanting simply to pay the $46 so that it goes away; but then, I begin to wonder whether this is some sort of SlingScam--or maybe some kind of database glitch.Anyone else out there been contacted about similar things? Like to hear your comments.

Clear email on Slingshot
Does anyone know if its possible to send email from a Clear email address using Slingshot as your internet supplier. My mother in law uses a Clear one currently on Spark/Xtra which has been OK until recently - after many issues a while back when you had to get an xtra email address and register the Clear email address. Its stopped working again and i'm taking the opportunity to look for a better deal for phone/internet which Slingshot appears to be ( $75 odd vs $95 for Voda or Spark )

Slingshot unstable connection
Hi all, greeting from newcomer here.I have been having connection issue with Slingshot UFB.When first I moved to Slingshot UFB (30 MBps) it was all good, no issue and happy with it. December last year I checked Slingshot page, seem they did not have 30 MBps anymore and the 100 Mbps cost pretty much the same as the 30 Mbps when I joined so its no brainer I requested to be upgraded to 100 Mbps. The process itself seem to be taking months and I had to keep calling to request for updates.Around February last month my connection suddenly just died, after few calling to Helpdesk I got the connection back by moving the cable on the ONT side from GE1 to GE2. I'm guessing that in order for me to be connected to the 100Mbps Chorus has to make some change to the ONT. At this stage the connection still in 30Mbps when I checked with Speedtest.net or linetest.nz (Im eventually get 100Mbps when I try to investigated myself and rebooting the ONT and router). However this is the start I'm having unstable connection issues. What I'm currently experiencing now sometimes pages seem does not load at all, Internet browser show that 'Waiting from site....' and it stay like this until it timed out. I noticed this happen alot on HTTPS connection. I used Hotmail alot, when I opened www.hotmail.com it will load the page however as soon I login to hotmail, I experienced this issue and eventually show error "Secure Connection Failed". This seem the same with Facebook, Evernote and many other sites as well. However if I opened other site for example www.google.com it will open alright and I can search anything to confirm my connection is alive. I reported this to Slingshot but so far nothing works, I was asked to do Slingshot full throughput test which reporting all is good. I noticed during testing on speedtest.net or linetest.nz, the upload test very often timed out. I experienced this issue as well on my Playstations, iphones, and ipads. This issue happen alot but intermittent, after experiencing this issue if I waiting few minutes sometimes I can login to Hotmail fine.Troubleshooting I have doneRebooting my router, ONT, computers, many times.Set DNS to Slingshot DNS or Google DNSRe-plugging all cablesTest my PC to use tether connection from mobile phone 4G seem I don't have this issue (however I only test connecting for 1 hour) Devices I have, 3 Ubuntu Linux PCs, 1 Macbook Pro, 1 Windows work laptop, 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, Playstations 3&4. So far I noticed the issue alot on the Ubuntu Linux PCs. Any advices really welcome, I have going back and forth to Slingshot helpdesk and emails but seem not helping.. most of time I was asked to repeat the generic testing. If require more information I'm more than happy to provide. Thank you. Edit adding notes from automatic respond: you have reset your modem and router - I have rebooted my ONT and router many timesyour PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing - you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap - I have check and ensure nothing downloading and I'm on unlimited connection. This issue was not there when I was initially on 30Mpbs.your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing - Yes I'm using wired connection.you read this topic and follow the instructions there. - I have read but unsure how applicable as I'm currently on UFB, not DSL connection.Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now: Your ISP and plan - Slingshot 100Mbps Fibre connection unlimitedType of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL) - FibreYour modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin) - How do I get this? I'm using the Slingshot provided Broadcom router supplied when I joined FibreYour general location (or street) - SunnynookIf you are rural or urban - UrbanIf you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin - I have no ideaIf your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service - I have no ideaIf you have done an isolation test as per the link above - None as I'm on Fibre instead of DSLI have also tried to change cables to ensure it is not the cable problem.
