Slingshot UFB in Hamilton?
UFB is under construction in my street and should be weeks away from being available to order. It would be easier and I'd be happy to stay with my current provider Slingshot, but they are not listed as an RSP in the TRON according to Ultrafast Fibre. Will i be able to sign up with Slingshot in the coming weeks once its available at my address? Also would I need the Slingshot $20 router as I have a Linksys WRT1900AC which I'm sure will be better?
↧
is the slingshot UFB router still "crap"?
looking at upgrading to UFB...weve been with SS for over 5 years but have heard reports that the UFB router supplied is woeful...is that still the case? i need decent wifi and the ability to set the dns for getflix and have Gigabit lan ports

TriplePlay 150 UFB supplied router
I have applied to be upgraded to slingshots fibre plan. Unfortunately the application failed due to the Telecom telling Slingshot my address is not in range for that service. Of course I got a message here from Chorus telling me otherwise. Anyway, Slingshot already did sent me the TriplePlay 150 router. I thought it can't hurt for somewhat $20. The router came preset with the connection data for ADSL and UFB. Once I turned it on and had changed the WiFi password and SSID to something other than the default I started to run into problems right away.Certain sites just wouldn't load. The weird thing was pages of certain websites were not loading while other pages from the same site were loading just fine. Pretty fast it was clear the problem lies with https sites, like gmail, facebook, pinterest. Google Chrome gave me an "Error Connection Reset" every time. I went through the basics like clearing cache, cookies etc., changed browsers, deinstalled the chrome, tried incognito mode, flushed dns, entered dns servers manually into the network card and so on. But nothing seemed to help. Sometimes CTRL+R or a simple F5 would work to load the page. Sometimes it loaded only half of the content. Mostly it just did not load at all. After resetting the router and using all the defaults and still not having the pages load correctly I gave up and switched to my old netgear router and things just work as they should. If anybody here has the TriplePlay 150 having the same problem, I would appreciate a solution if someone found it.

Unwanted Telemarketing Calls
Hi,I'd like to know who should I make a formal complaint to at CallPlus regarding unwanted telemarketing calls at my work place - at no time did we ever give permission to CallPlus to ring us up trying to sell us stuff we never wanted in the first place. I tried ringing up the 0800 number but alas it says that I called outside their 'business hours' so is there any CallPlus employees here who can rectify the situation.

Slingshot UFB Vouchers?
So UFB is finally available for me. I was just wondering if there are any vouchers that Slingshot has at the moment for UFB?

Slingshot Disappointment
Moved into a flat today they are using Slingshot Unlimited $79 plan contract expires in Feb next year.Rang Slingshot to ask if we could upgrade to VDSL for $89 dollars but said we would have to be locked in for 12 months...pfff what the hell? Spark / Vodafone allows you to move between plans each month with no additional cost.Bigpipe is look quite nice right now for Feb... Slingshot do you actually want to keep your customers?

Poor line speed and now getting worse
Is there anyone from Slinshot that can help?I have been a customer at my previous address and service/speeds were great. mI then moved in with a mate. He had Vodafone and the speeds were being throttles l;ike crazy at peak so I suggested switching to Slingshot. The Voda line speed was 15Mbps...Not too bad - but could be better - we are 1.1 km from a cabinet and not much further from the exchange. The switchover took a long time as the online process did not handle going from a Naked connection correctly and no one called to get the missing info till I chased up after 10 days.Anyway...switchover occcurred and we has 13Mbps max line speed (I am refering to the modems max download link rate (Netgear D7000 and the Slingshot issued one are about the same). Gave it 15 days to 'bed in' and no speed increase so rang slingshot and they agreed to drop us back to ADSL as the speed was not good. All good I thought....cant get great speed at 1.1 km....but when the change to Slingshot ADSL occurred, the max connect speed was now only 9Mbps. Rang Slingshot and they got Chorus to check. Chorus say no issues.....even though the lines a few weeks before provided ADSLK at 1.5MBps or more?????Was not stuck between a rock and a hard place so asked Slingshot to bump us back to VDSL...hoping to be back at 1.5MBps or better...but no...No the VDSL max rate is only 10000 kbps.FYI....when we had the Slingshot ADSL, I tried removing the master filter incase it was faulty...no apparent change. I have tried 2 modems and both give very similar sync speeds.Where do I go now? Slingshot support have tried to help, but now I am getting frustrated (trying not to blame Slingshot as I believe it is a Chorus issue). All I want is internet at 1.5MBps or better so my flatmate and I can both stream at the same time....Please help Slingshot.

Slingshot really bad customer service - my story
Need to vent to someone, here seems to be a good spot. Both my wife and I work from home and use internet. Three years ago we had an ADSL link with Orcon, service was good, but started suffering speed problems and service started to deteriorate. We applied for an upgrade to VDSL and were told that a re-installation would cost $160. An advert for Spark (Telcom then) said "switch to VDSL and get free installation and first month free" so it was a no brainer, we switched with a one year contract. Ok, so speed was no faster than our old Orcon ADSL and we had the odd brown outs, but what peeved me off was not being able to talk to a human when we have a problem. When my year was up, I spoke to Slingshot, the saleslady was nice and assured me that they have real people working on their helpdesk and they are based in Auckland. I filled in my online form and a modem duly arrived in the post. Then the problems began. Text messages, all starting with "Slinshot here.."29 Oct "your broadband is due to be connected on 03 Nov 2015." 30 Oct "Sorry, change with connection date, now 30 Nov 2015"25 Nov "..your connection date is 01 Dec 2015" (It doesn't happen)02 Dec 10:59 "..Sorry new connection date is 02 Dec.. (It doesn't happen)02 Dec 11:02 " ..Great news your home line service is now active with slingshot." ??02 Dec 12:16 " .. A technician is due to connect you new service on 03 Dec 2015During this litany of texts I phoned the help line a couple of times and during the hour on hold, was told that I should use their "on line" help service! Difficult when you are phoning to report that you are not "on line"However on one successful call I managed to speak to a lady who stepped me through some modem settings and our internet connection came up. Too soon for celebration..only up for three hours then internet drops. Modem lights all report OK DSL is up and it says that internet is up but nope..dead.My very frustrated wife also phoned to vent her wrath and was told that the problem was with Chorus. We were given a Chrous job number. A Chorus technician pitched and told us that nothing was wrong with the home installation. Then a Chorus quality controller turned up, he was very nice and suggested that we monitor the service and report the frequent drop outs to Slingshot. But how? Their "on line" reporting system seems to be un-read. No response! Finally, yesterday, another Chorus technician rolls up. He says the modem is getting too hot and re-installed my old Spark VDSL modem. Happy to report our setup is stable. At least until Spark want their modem back. Anyone know how to tell Slingshot that we need a new modem? Can anyone suggest a service provider who will take their customers a little more seriously?

UFB Connection Issues
Hi All,I've had a particularly bad customer experience with Slingshot on our move from ADSL to VDSL, along with a still unsolved technical issue. Firstly when the engineer came out around 2 weeks ago he installed the splitter - but did not hook up the router. On hooking it up I had to then spend 1 hour plus trying to get a profile setup.. not great. After I found that all wifi devices in the house could hold wifi connection but not hold stable internet connection. Browsers timing out, netflix timing out etc. When I ping a website during these periods I lose all packets. I went through technical suport with SS who advised me on the basics, changing channel, manual setting of DNS. Still no luck. Wifi signal is strong, and internet timeouts seem device specific. So my phone will drop-out when my laptop will maintain stable internet access. I've also checked IP allocation - and attempted to allocate IP's manually on devices with no success.Internet also works stable via LAN, though at slower than expected speeds (DL approx 16mbp - slingshot say it should be c.25mbs) so I've ruled router wifi issues as the culpret. I have exhausted technical support through SS who attribute my issue to living in an apartment with 11 devices connected. Their suggestion is to buy a new router. I asked to log a complaint with them on this suggestion, as I was pretty much forced to buy their router with my VDSL connection (abit it is only $20..).I have also tried daisy chaining their old ADSL router, which worked perfectly to the new VDSL and connecting to that. Weirdly I experienced the same issue.Seems pretty bizarre to me, hope someone else has experienced something similar before i blow much needed $$ before Christmas.

Hybrid wiring not installed, but my filter was used instead
Chorus had a job to install hybrid wiring, as I only have a ONTB box which was installed in the 13th last month.Today they turned up to install hybrid wiring, but before they did, they asked for a filter. Then used a phone cord to plug into my NF4V modem and plugged the filter into my old jack point which has all jack points going now. Plus my phone cord is plugged into the filter as well.My question is, if hybrid wiring was used will that allow me to turn off my modem and still use the phones, or do I have to leave the modem on regardless. What does hybrid wiring actually do. Prefer not to keep buying filters all the time.Thank you.NOTE:- The last chorus tech that came out to install the ONTB said the phone would only work if it was plugged in the modem only, or I think Slingshot told me. Not sure why he didn't know that using a filter would activate the jack points again.Hybrid wiring wasn't installed at all, they just used my old adsl filter or filter.

Is slingshot SLOWSHOT?
Singed a new contract(fibre and mobile) to switch over from another ISP, I expected all would be done within 2 weeks which was estimated and reasonable time frame. Rang them last Thursday, I was told they would txt me when they could confirm the date for connection. They couldn't send me a new sim card at this stage either.I was a bit disappionted to hear that. I changed ISP or got new connection few times(10 mabye), but never had experience like this time. If I want to bring my number to another mobile company, just need buy a $5 new sim card, give them a call or do DIY through their website. Then I can enjoy the new network in the next couple of hours. The third week started today, it seems that there's no update or good news coming up.Anyone have the same story about slowshot to share?

New Slingshot UFB + Home phone
Hi allI am getting UFB installed this friday (hopefully). I had a couple of questions that I was hoping someone here can help answer for me. The Chorus tech told me that they will be cutting the copper connection when the finish the installation. So my homephone will now be coming through via the fibre. My question is, so I assume that the phone ports in my house will become useless now? Where do I plug in my phone? The tech said that Slingshot should have sent you a modem where you can connect in your phone. But I dont want to use the supplied modem as I havent heard the most positive things about it. I rather use my own one (I have a Dlink AC1750 DIR2890 model which is UFB compatible - it has a WAN port). So where would my phone be connected into? Also, while on the subject, has anyone got any other recommendations for UFB modem routers? Just a short comment on the chorus guy that came to install. He was looking to do a very quick job and he wanted to install the UFB end node at the very corner of the house (closest to the road) and seemed quite reluctant to position it near the centre of the house (where the current ADSL point is). I had to talk it through to him for a good 10 minutes to explain that I want it at the same location as the ADSL node as that is the centre of the house and wifi would be best from there. I didnt appreciate the tech trying to do a quick job as to what is convenient for him - many unknowing customers would just listen to the techs because the techs would know better.

Disable caching on Callplus UFB?
Hey there,We've recently been switched over from Orcon Business 100/50 to 200/200 on Callplus and there seems to be some sort of caching nonsense going on that is causing some issues for us, specifically Netflix doesn't seem to be playing nicely and I suspect that it might not be helping. We also do a bit of web development and it's frustrating to see our IP change on some sites. I know on residential Slingshot connections this can be done from the website, but I don't seem to see any option on the Callplus one for this. The call center person that initially helped me set this up said it wasn't possible to disable, but I just wanted to double check to see if that was actually the case. If so, this is pretty disappointing.

Slow Speed With Slingshot In Beach Haven
Hey everyone.Experiencing very slow broadband speeds with Slingshot and was wondering if anyone could provide any tips on things to check/call about etc. I have recently moved to the Beach Haven area a short distance off of Rangatira Road and am currently only getting 190-220KBps. Here are the things I have tried:-Isolation testing - Swapping out all cables and testing different devices.-Speed testing - Using online resources to test packet drops etc. (All good but with indications of very slow speeds)-Throughput testing - Used Slingshot's script to test throughput, this hung on a loop of tracert commands that never completed after long periods of time.-Manual tests - Pings etc. to try and determine the source of slow speed. (All returned very fast except for the ping to Slingshot servers, these all timed out) If anyone has any ideas, or if there is someone from Slingshot on this forum, any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.EDIT: To add some of the details pointed out by the bot.ISP Plan: Slingshot Unlimited BroadbandType of Connection: ADSL2Modem DSL Stats: Down=2345Kbps Up=1116KbpsGeneral Location: Gemini Place (Off of Rangatira Road in Beach Haven)Rural or Urban: UrbanExchange/Cabinet/Conklin: Don't know

Slingshot Mobile and MMS
I have recently moved to Slingshot mobile from 2degrees. We have 2 devices an iphone 6 and a Lumia 930. On both devices I am having a lot of issues setting up MMS, I have also seen this issue on Spark before as well. On the Windows Phone I have tried Slingshot's APNSkinny's APNSpark's APNto no effect except not being able to send picture messages. Interestingly I had to change my SMS Center Message number to Spark's to get my premium SMS services working as well. I thought having an iPhone might fix this but there is no access to APN settings at all under Cellular settings. I have enabled MMS on the iPhone and disabled imessage, reset network settings and still no chance to set APN.I have called Slingshot a couple of times and they claim it is my device however this seems a bit strange as it is on 2 different OS's. Being on Slingshot is essentially Spark and they say on their site that all settings should be the same for Spark, however the ones on their site do not match up to the Spark ones.Does anyone have any advice?

DNS issue with Slingshot
Hi all, trying to look at Boxing day deals on Noel Leeming's website but it won't load - it appears it's due to a DNS issue with Slingshot. Can anyone else confirm? Thanks :)
