Hi there,I live in Onehunga in Auckland and I am 350m away from he nearest exchange cabinet. Since I bought this house in 2012 the internet has been slow. Usually takes about 25mins to download one gigabyte Around 500kbs to 800kbs. However, it was always very stable and consistent on my old Vodafone connection so had no trouble playing games. My equipment has not changed. However, after travelling for a year I have signed up with Slingshot and the internet now suffers from lags, spikes and it is very unstable and has dropped off approximately 30 times in the last six weeks. I play World of Tanks a lot and this has become almost impossible due to rubber banding and yo yoing. The spikes are absolutely killing it. My wife is also very irritated at the lag in internet browsing as you have to click and wait a lot.Speedtest shows between 7 - 8mbs down and 1mbs up with a ping of 20 regularly but performance never seems matches that. The slow speed I can live with the spikes I can't.- I am using a TP Link 8840 ( The old version with the good chip not the T model) and a TP Link WR1043ND. - I contacted Slingshot and they could only suggest interleaving (Which they did but it didn't help.)- I bridged the 8840 to the WR1043ND but it didn't help (Didn't hurt but didn't help so I left it that way).- I updated the firmware on both devices which I'm glad I did as it made the WR1043ND much more stable but didn't improve performance.- My whole house has been rewired using Cat 6 cable which connects to the original copper cable running in from the point of entry. And then comes down to two separate switches for upstairs and downstairs. The house is split into two and has separate phone lines for upstairs and downstairs. So there are two phone lines and two internet connections coming into the house (Does this effect performance?) - I don't have a master splitter but I have nothing else on the switch except for the modem (And I guess potentially an upstairs internet connection?). I could try installing one myself though as I have the tools.- I also could try moving the modem in next to the switch in the garage. I havn't yet as I keep having to reset it once a day and don't want to walk all the way out there :-)- Could I convince Slingshot to put me on VDSL to try and fix the prob as I am only 50m outside the range? So i'm looking for advice. Do I just have bad internet or do I need to buy a new modem? Is the upstairs connection affecting my internet downstairs? Should I break my contract with Slingshot and go back to Vodafone? Is there something else I could or should be doing. I'm not super techy but I can work most things out eventually. I would really appreciate some expert advice on things I can do as Slingshot has basically washed there hands of me. And 350m from a fibre exchange seems really harsh to have terrible internet.Cheers
