Late last year the man from Chorus came & installed our fiber. It wasn't the smoothest install but we got there in the end. 2 months later we get a phone call from Slingshot saying the need to come round & do some more wiring as our phone was still running on the copper lines. In the mean time I'd ditched the less than desirable "free" modem/rouoter supplied, Netcomm NF4V with an ASUS DSL-AC52U so I could at least stream Netflix in HD. Today we find out we require a VoIP compatible modem/router, I've had to hook the old NF4V back up so the Mrs can use the land line. I phoned Slingshot & asked them if they had any better modems & for $100 they'll sell me a Netcomm NF18ACV. I'm not happy with having to pay for a reasonable modem/router when most of the competition in this day & age can supply a dual band. I've also not seen many good reviews of Netcomm products wifi stability.Do people have any recommendations? Just having a quick look around now & the d-link talkbox2800 is one of the few options out there that don't cost a small fortune. I'd prefer to stay with ASUS but. The other option we have is to swap providers, the guy from Chorus said Spark & Trustpower customers can plug their phones directly into the fiber box. Thanks in advance.
